Anxiety is a vague sense of apprehension.
While drugs are easier than applying intelligence and

Anxieties, worries and fears may offer illusions of increased protection
(the more I worry the less likely it will happen) and a reality
of increased risk. Preoccupied people may not notice immediate dangers.
Some common fears and anxieties include:
- Fear of death – are you anxious that you will die? Do you worry about the experience of death? This fear may
cause you to avoid any risks to prolong your survival ... or it may
make you freeze or panic in dangerous situations.
- Fear of emptiness – are you anxious that your life
is empty? Do you feel pointless and without purpose? A lack of
meaning may cause you to waste your life chasing distractions ...
or it can motivate you to find your
sense of life.
- Fear for your family – are you anxious that family members will
suffer or die? Fearing the
suffering or loss of important people may cause you to damage your
adult relationships if you are preoccupied with childish worries.
- Fear of public speaking - do you fear standing up and saying what
is important to you? Are you scared of microphones? The consequences may
include shortness of breath, high blood
pressure, nausea and a desire to run away.
Control Anxiety, Worries & Phobias
Anxiety is more than worry. Are you constantly afraid, even when nothing seems
to be wrong? If you can't relax; if you always expect
the worst, you may suffer from chronic anxiety - and
you may feel depressed about always feeling afraid.
If you worry a lot, people may call you negative, irritable or grouchy.
Your muscles may feel tense and sore, especially in your shoulders and neck. You may feel constantly tired or even exhausted.
It may be hard for you to focus or relax.
Most phobias are extreme, irrational fears. For us, phobias are all pretty much the same - intense anxiety triggered
by something usually considered minor. (If you like psycho-babble, arachibutyrophobia is the psychological term for a fear of peanut butter sticking to the
roof of your mouth).
Taking Charge of Fear, Anxiety and Worry

Anxiety often originates in childhood, as a
way of bonding to an anxious parent. It may start
during the stresses of adolescence. Some anxiety problems
may be due to food allergies and food sensitivities;

I always had good ideas, but I

Long-term anxiety is often associated with family
disturbances. Does your family's history include abuse, abandonment, betrayal, violence or suicide attempts?
Chronic anxiety may also result from identifying
with a family member who could not show fear. A primary symptom is a fear of change. We offer powerful

(A paradox is - if you are afraid of change, you may be afraid of

Are you anxious about your health?
Do you interpret body sensations as evidence of
serious disease (hypochondria)? Do you invent medical symptoms to
avoid work, to qualify for disability payments or to evade military
service (malingering)? Do you lie about your health to influence or manipulate people?

anxiety is also associated with post-traumatic stress and eating
disorders, and is common amongst people who feel neglected or
who want more control in their lives.
Few medical professionals seem to recognize
health anxiety. They may accuse you of exaggerating -
or they may call you a hypochondriac, a malingerer
or a liar.

Hypochondria: Worried Sick?
Hypochondria means persistent irrational
fear that you have, or will have, a serious medical condition.
You may believe that you have a serious disease and that your doctor
is not working hard enough (and drug companies will encourage you
to spend a disproportionate amount of money for more drugs.)
You may feel dizziness, swelling, palpitations or pain. If you
distrust medical professionals, you may disregard their advice and interpret
common signs (e.g. headaches, dizziness, fatigue etc) as dangerous.
If you believe that your body is defective or deformed - endless reassurance or even plastic surgery are unlikely to ease your
unpleasant feelings about your body.
Most hypochondriac people will
never go to a psychiatrist. They'll say, 'I don't want to talk
about this, I want another biopsy, I want that CAT scan repeated.'

Phobias & Social Phobia
Phobias may be called irrational obsessions and
compulsions. Many phobias are examples of one-shot
accelerated learning! Something happened that a person cannot forget.
We can help most people solve phobias in
a few sessions.
You may be labeled with social phobia
(social anxiety) if you dread being criticized, or judged.
You may be told that your fear is irrational; yet your anxiety persists.
If you have social phobia
you find it difficult to be with people ("What are they thinking
about me; maybe they don't like me"). You may attract attention to
yourself or even try to be the center of attention ("I'll give them something to talk about!").
Are you constantly worried or afraid? Do you even
worry in your dreams? You may have muscle pains and headaches;
you may feel constantly tired and yet you cannot seem to relax.
Muscle tension may cause you to sweat a lot,
even at night. You may even feel that you might vomit.
If so, you may
find it difficult to leave your home. (Something terrible might
happen). You may be afraid of losing it in public. You may feel
insecure in all parts of your life.
I met a woman who was anxious and fearful
of any change. I helped her replace her
